The Guilty Reader Book Tag

Books and Candles

It`s been a while since my last book TAG, so I was very happy when the lovely Elena from The Book Portal tagged me. The original creator of this tag is Chami from ReadLikeWildfire, who`s an avid reader and knows that bookworms are sinners and do things that they shouldn`t do. They spoil endings, lie and try to take over the Universe, as soon as they finish that ONE chapter. You don`t believe me? Take a look at my answers.

1. Have you ever re-gifted a book that you've been given?
I can`t say that I have. I know it sounds bad, but I tell people in advance which are the books that I want. It might spoil the surprise, but it`s better than receiving something you don`t want. The thought might matter, but so does the wasted money on a useless gift.

2. Have you ever said you've read a book when you haven't?
You caught me, there are some BIG NAMES that I`ve read only the synopsis or a few chapters, but not the entire book. It`s not like I said I`ve read the "Divine Comedy" in Italian (or was it Latin?) though. But considering I have the worst memory, I get away with it. Because I can`t remember the books I`ve read last year, let alone the ones in high-school.

3. Have you ever borrowed a book and not returned it?
Never. I used to borrow book only from the library and the first fines weren`t pretty, so I`ve learned my lesson.

4. Have you ever read a series out of order?
Once, with "The Hunger Games". I just needed to see if Katniss realises what a gem Peeta is.

5. Have you ever spoiled a book for anyone?
All the time, it`s my favourite thing to do and I`ll probably burn in hell for that. Though some studies have shown that knowing the ending maximises your enjoyment, so you`re welcome.

6. Have you ever doggy eared a book?
I used to do that until a few years ago when I discovered the beauty of bookmarks. I mean, I wasn`t raised in a barn, I knew what they were. But only recently I started collecting and using them. Until then it was the doggy ear treatment.

7. Have you ever told someone you do not own a book when you do?
No, because I probably wouldn`t borrow the book anyway:)) I did that once, I never got it back and I never recovered from the drama. It was a special edition as well...

8. Have you ever told someone you haven't read a book when you have?
Once. "Twilight". Enough said.

9. Have you ever skipped a chapter or a section of a book?
A couple of times, if they feature long descriptions or they go on and on about how beautiful a character is. We get it, he has cherub abs and she has doe eyes, let`s get it over with.

10. Have you ever bad mouthed a book you actually like?
I wouldn't put it like that. But there are books that I like even though they`re not the best novels out there. Obviously, I have to point the problematic aspects out despite my enjoyment of the book.

Elena, thanks for tagging me, I had a lot of fun answering the questions. I`m not tagging anyone, but feel free to tell me what are some of your guilty habits when it comes to reading.

  1. I have soooo many books sat on my shelf that look like they've been read but they certainly haven't. One day I will get down to reading them, but with new ones coming out all the time and a never ending reading list, they just look pretty y'know? I might do this tag actually, store it up for a week when I have no ideas!

    1. I love TAGS when you`re feeling not that inspired. They`re so fun to do.

    1. I never owned the books, so I don`t know if I would have kept them or not. I mean, it`s a series that 16-year-old me loved, so maybe I would have kept it for sentimental value.

  3. Oooh..... What a cool tag! So evil! 😂

    I can't say I've ever regifted a book either!

I don't mind saying that I've read books I we understand T necessarily feel good about having read, even Twilight! 😂 And the bad mouthing part.... We'll we do have to pint out all the aspects as reviewers. There are definitely books though that I've rated low and yet got great entertainment value from!
