TTT: Top Ten Book Boyfriends

Me Before You

Hello, everyone! Alas, a post! This time the lack of engagement wasn`t because of my organisational skills, though Lord knows I miss them. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago my laptop decided to harakiri himself. Considering I`ve only had it for 3 years, you could say I`m disappointed. Sure, like a chaos walking I might have dropped it on its head a couple of times, but it happens to the best of us. Anyways, the situation has been sorted for the time being and we can go on with the usual.

Today`s TTT is about the hunks/ better than reality book boyfriends. As a happily married woman, I can`t say I have many of those...Who am I kidding? I have an endless list of teenagers ten years younger than me. Because parent figures are absent in YA and after a while, that sarcastic seventeen-year-old sounds quite dashing. On paper, at least. To make things more interesting I`ve decided to talk about 4 boyfriend categories. Sure, some of them may have more than one distinguishing quality, but I went with my guts. I also tried to include a decent amount of YA and adult book characters, so I don`t sound like a total cougar.

The Good Guys
Clockwork Princess

They`re the ones you can always count on, the ones that make you a better person. They`re calm and loving. Some might call them boring, but they`re the ones you`d probably want to meet in real life. For this section, I have three names: Peeta from "The Hunger Games", Pen from "The Queen of the Tearling" and Jem from "The Infernal Devices". They`re three of my favourite characters, maybe because their personalities are so similar to my husband`s.

The Bad Guys
On the opposite end, we have the psychopaths/assassins/need a therapist type of guy. Whilst I would never go for someone like that in real life, I root for them in the books. Because sometimes you need an evil/morally grey dude to shake up your world. For this category, I have two names. One is The Darkling from "The Grisha Trilogy", whom I know I have no excuse for loving. Other than dude`s hot and makes my ovaries explode. The other is Damon Salvatore from "The Vampire Diaries" and I am cheating a bit on this one because the books were insufferable to get through. But Ian Somerhalder is God`s gift to humanity. Just look at those eyes!

The Nerds
I have a soft spot in my heart for scrawny, sarcastic guys. I don`t need muscles, I just need someone to make me laugh. My first pick for this category is Simon Lewis from "The Mortal Instruments". I always go on and on about how much I hate Cassandra Clare`s main characters, but she does have a gift with her secondary ones. My other pick is Rishi from "When Dimple Met Rishi", who was an adorable mix of awkwardness and geekiness.
When Dimple Met Rishi

The Rude Millionaire
They`re charming, good looking and most of the cases they are ridiculously smart. One obvious answer is Mr Darcy from "Pride and Prejudice". Another is Rhett Butler from "Gone with the Wind" and again I am cheating because I have not read the book, but the movie is one of my favourites. The last one is Will from "Me Before You". I had trouble putting Will into a category because in the book he`s an amazing guy. But I`ve decided to go with the pre-accident version of him.

So there you have it, my fictional crushes. Are any of these on your list? Let me know in the comments.

*TTT is a weekly feature/meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. There are some fantastic themes coming up, so check them out.

  1. If I had a list, Rhett Butler would be #1! Movie and book version. I totally agree with Peeta, too; he's got such a big heart.

  5. Oh I love how you put the book boyfriends into categories! I was under the impression that I usually fall for the nerdy or morally grey characters, but then again Peeta and Jem are some of my all time favorites, so there's something about those good guys that can't be denied :)

    1. Most of the times I prefer the good guys/the nerds. Not judging, but for me it was hard to understand how anyone can pick Will over Jem.

  6. Ian Somerhalder is the only reason I watched TVD, lol. (Sadly, I only made it through two seasons before giving up.) I really liked him on Lost, too. :)

    Happy reading!

    1. Yeah, as long as you like them in the book it does not mean you`d approve in real life. But it`s fiction:))

  9. To be fair, Will is kind of insufferable post-accident too, at first.

Great list and I love how you used categories. I can definitely agree with several of your choices.

Have a great week. - Katie

  19. Ok. A. I love how you sorted your list into categories - so fun! B. you have some fun "titles" for these characters, and C. I like Peeta a lot too. It makes me sad that he was kind of Katniss' "default" choice (at least in the film) since she all but banished Gale. Still... I do appreciate that the film shows us both of them are happy, something I didn't feel in the book.

I haven't met Will (Me Before You) yet, but I do have that book on my shelf. Hopefully soon. :)

Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland.
