The Fault in Our Stars Movie Review

This review might have been more interesting when the movie came out, but guess what? I saw the movie only last Friday. I know, shocker, considering everyone probably saw it 2 years ago, but I wanted to read the book first. Also, I wanted the hype to cool down a bit because sometimes I tend to go with the flow and realize later that maybe the book or movie was not that great. In this case, however, they were both phenomenal.

I won`t talk about the plot, mainly because I think everyone knows it by now, but also because I reviewed the book recently. The movie is a very close adaptation and follows the main events accurately. However, I was a bit disappointed to see that they skipped the part with Caroline Mathers. I know it`s a movie and they can`t include everything, but Caroline was a strong factor in Hazel`s decision about not being with Augustus in the first place.

As a fan of the Divergent movies, it was a bit weird to see Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort play lovers. But they both did an amazing job! I must say, comparing Gus and Caleb from Divergent, Ansel Elgort is a very talented actor and I can`t wait to see him in more roles. Also, while he didn`t necessarily fit the physical description, Willem Defoe was mesmerizing as Peter van Houten.

Overall, I think it`s a really good movie, all actors did an impeccable job and the soundtrack was amazing as well. One of my favourite scenes has to be when Hazel reads Gus` eulogy, the music complemented the words and I sobbed for at least 15 minutes.
