Top 5 Wednesday: Books as Event Themes

This is my first post in the top 5 Wednesday series and the topic couldn`t have been a better one. Books as event themes aka books that would inspire you to throw an awesome party. When I saw the topic I instantly thought about two very different books, novels well loved by millions of people. In my opinion, when you throw a party you have three options. You either go full chic or full nerd. Or you keep it casual, but nobody cares about that. So with that in mind, here are the books that I have selected:

1. "The Great Gatsby" by F.Scott Fitzgerald
When I think of a glamorous party, this is the first thing that comes into my mind. The Roaring Twenties is a period loved my many, for various reasons. The jazz, the booze, the fashion - a magic time full of endless possibilities.
How would my perfect Gatsby party look like? Dashing men wearing dapper suits. Ladies rocking beaded flapper dresses. Jazz music to ease the mood and fancy cocktails to loosen the inhibitions.

2. "Harry Potter Series" by J.K Rowling
Potterheads, unite! I know that some people would find a Harry Potter themed party extremely nerdy. But what do these muggles know? Just read a passage where Rowling talks about the Yule Ball and you`ll see that wizards know how to partyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
Harry Potter

There are countless ways in which you could throw a HP seance. Maybe you could have a night to show your House pride. Or one to mimic the wonderful Yule Ball. Basically, this is a series for everyone to enjoy and people of all ages should enjoy a night dedicated to this masterpiece.

Same category: The Lord of The Rings Trilogy, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Hobbit.

3. "Alice`s Adventures In Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll
Another story loved by millions, for its whimsical and unique style. You could have a Mad Hatter Party or one centred around The Queen of Hearts. Multi coloured balloons and cheerful music are a must.  Also, extra points for colourful cupcakes with tiny labels that say "Eat Me". And let`s not forget about tea. An Alice themed party would be perfect for a bridal/baby shower party because it sends a message of fun and innocence.
Alice in Wonderland
Same category: The Wizard of Oz, The Cat in The Hat, Peter Pan.

4. "The Night Circus" by Erin Morgenstern
Think of a fancy soiree where people are dressed in black and white attire. If you`re feeling adventurous, you can add a dash of red. The ambience is set by chill music and a classy decor. If the weather is nice you could even have the party in a tent to resemble the one in the book.

Same category: Caraval.

5. "Percy Jackson and The Olympians" by Rick Riordan
Due to its greek mythology heritage, a party themed around this book would be a cultural feast. You could serve Greek food, maybe thrown in some Wine pitchers or "Ambrosia" cocktails. As for music, you should go with something classical.

As always, you can`t go wrong with Pinterest. If you`re looking for inspiration, you`ll find everything there, from cake designs to invitation patterns. I found some lovely ideas on this board, so definitely check it out if you have an event in the near future.
