Books I`m Reading During Lockdown

Hello, everyone! It`s been a while, but with everything going on, I didn`t feel like blogging. On top of the Coronavirus situation, I`m also going through major life changes, which I talked about here. I like to think that every challenge is a chance for a better future, so I`m keeping my optimism. Anyway, today we`re going to talk about the books I`m reading during lockdown. One of the few good things about this ordeal is that it looks like I found my reading mojo again. Yay!

"Vengeful" by V.E.Schwab
You all know I adore "Vengeful", so it`s a bit of a mystery why it took me so long to read the sequel. I`ve picked this book back in January, but I was still adjusting to motherhood, so I put it down. But now that I`m back in this world, I`m loving every minute. I was a bit apprehensive at first, cause I did not think that it can live up to its predecessor. But then I got to the chapters about Eli`s childhood and chills. I still hate the prick, but now I understand him.

"With The Fire On High" by Elizabeth Acevedo
"The Poet X" is one of my favourite YA contemporaries, so I had high hopes for Acevedo`s next novel. So far I`m not that impressed as I was with the former, but it`s still an enjoyable read. As a new mum, I especially like the passages with Emoni and her daughter.

"Always And Forever, Lara Jean" by Jenny Han
When the first Netflix adaptation came out, I quickly fell in love with the characters. And now time for a controversial opinion: I read the book afterwards and didn`t find it as good as the first movie. I was not the biggest fan of the second book, and I`ve yet to see the second movie instalment (heard it`s bad). Anyway, so far I`m enjoying this more than "P.S. I Still Love You".

"This Savage Song" by Victoria Schwab
Since "Villains" is becoming one of my favourite series, I feel the need to pick up all of Shwab`s other works. I like her writing and love the fact that so far none of her characters is completely good or evil.

"A Heart So Fierce And Broken" by Brigid Kemmerer
This was one of my most anticipated releases of 2020, having loved "A Curse So Dark And Lonely". The reason why it took me so long to pick it up is the fact that people have mixed opinions. And I normally like to make up my own mind, but I am apprehensive when a book does a 180, and completely changes the story. Which sort of happens in this book. I will talk about this more when I write my review.

Reading List

I am trying to keep my spirits up during this time, and I am thankful that I found my reading mojo again. Things are shitty in the outside world, but at least I can escape in my fantasy world. Not that I read the happiest of book, but still, it`s a choice. What about you? What are you currently reading?

  1. I've only read the first Lara Jean book but I saw both movies and I have a feeling the reason why you didn't love the second book as much is probably why the second movie was bad. I wasn't a fan of the direction it went in at all and didn't love the characters as much as I did in the first movie/book. I hope you're doing okay and I'm glad you're able to read during this stressful time! I'm hoping my motivation for reading will come back soon; I miss it, but I'm perpetually too emotionally exhausted to do anything but schoolwork and watch TV.

  2. Great picks! I have actually ordered a couple of these for myself, namely A Heart So Fierce and Broken and Vengeful! I have been craving that type of vibe lately!
