TTT: The Case of The Forgotten Books

Hello. Today Top Ten Tuesday`s topic is Books I`ve added to my TBR and forgotten why. I`m not being funny, this probably applies to 90% of the books on my TBR. If they`re not a classic, something by a loved author or part of a series, I have no idea what these titles are doing on my list. Most of the time I add new releases, but I also add books that sound similar to the ones I like. Life would be so much easier if I had realistic expectations about my reading. But then again, all bookworms like to feel the pressure of a gigantic TBR list.

"Cloud Atlas" by David Mitchell
I think that reading this will impress many people. I`m not being shady, it has great reviews, but also warnings like "hard to get into" and "not for everyone". And some books are like that, and admitting that doesn`t make you a snob. But for instance, my dad always says that he wants books to relax him, not to stress him.

"Vincent and Theo: The Van Gogh Brothers" by Deborah Heiligman
I`m not sure how accurate this is, but it has a great rating. I`ll admit that I wasn`t even aware that Vincent had a brother, so I`m interested to find out more.

"A Place For Us" by Fatima Farheen Mirza
Are celebrity book clubs still popular? I know there was quite the craze when it was announced as the first book on the Sarah Jessica Parker for Hogarth list. Since then, the book gained a lot of praise and stellar reviews. I don`t know when I`ll get to it, but I`m glad I was reminded it`s on my TBR.

"Out" by Natsuo Kiriono
For those that aren`t aware, Haruki Murakami is one of my favourite writers. But a few years ago I wanted to expand my horizon, and read other Japanese authors as well. So that`s why this made my list.

"The Merciful Crow" by Margaret Owen
There was some hype when it was first released because the word crow in a fantasy book will send the bookish community in a frenzy. Myself included! I did hear that it`s quite romance based, which makes me apprehensive. Will see.

"House of Salt and Sorrow" by Erin A.Craig
Another 2019 popular fantasy release. I`m trying to read more retellings, so I`ll definitely get to this at one point. I`m not familiar with the story this book is based on, but I don`t think that will lessen my enjoyment. At least I hope I`ll enjoy it.

"All Your Twisted Secrets" by Diana Urban
Whilst this novel is filled with trope characters like "The Breakfast Club", the plot seems quite original. Do you sacrifice someone and let the rest live, or you try to solve the mystery and risk everyone`s life? The rating is meh, but that doesn`t put me off.

"Green Island" by Shawna Yang Ryan
Am I still doing the #aroundtheworld book challenge? Who knows? Definitely not me. I mean, I can`t imagine doing it in a year. But at the same time, it`s also something I want to do in my lifetime.

"Come Back for Me" by Sharon Hart-Green
Historical fiction is one of my favourite genres, but I have to admit that I`m mainly familiar with the popular names. I`ve read a couple YA Holocaust books and some memoirs, but I want to focus on adult fiction as well.

"The Earth is Singing" by Vanessa Curtis
I`m not losing it, I know I`ve just said that I want to focus on adult historical fiction. But I`m not ditching YA either, rather trying to read lesser-known Holocaust books. Bonus point: this also counts for my #aroundtheworld challenge.

Hopefully, I`ll get to most of these titles, but I can`t make any promises. I constantly add new titles to my TBR list, and it`s not a habit I`ll give up soon.

  1. I've heard the same thing about Cloud Atlas from other folks.

    My TTT .

  2. Your list actually sounds pretty good!

  3. LOL. I SOOOO feel your pain! My main TBR list on Goodreads has just under 5000 books on it. Except for the top 50 or so, I couldn't tell you what these books are about or why I added them. I just thought they looked good at the time.

    Happy TTT!

  4. I haven't read any of these yet, but I'm looking forward to Vincent and Theo and Out.

  5. Maybe this should be your summer reading list? It looks like a good one!

  6. Great list!! Here is my TTT.

  7. Gosh I must get back to reading! I miss it so much! Any MUST READ first recommendations for a romance love like myself? :)
